What’s made Google search, Facebook, the iPod, and Firefox household names? They all keep interaction to a minimum. The best presentation of content is the one which requires the least number of clicks and choices. Information overload is daunting: Few clicks and choices means more people stay and use your site. Avoiding interaction seduction allows you to create interfaces that are easier to learn and faster to use with surprisingly delightful interfaces. As an example, we’ll see what Google search would have looked like if the Lobby For Advancement Of Carpal-Tunnel Syndrome had got their way.
No, that quote is nowhere in this video. This is a small series of clips of Shane Claiborne narrating his book, The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical. It’s a wildly counter-cultural read if you care… and definitely amazing food for thought.

Funny remix from the Super Bowl Commercials… Heads roll when dad finds out his baby has been trading stocks on his account. Not for the squeamish.
Okay, so I use a Blackberry Pearl & have for roughly 14 months. It’s great… but I’ve never jumped into the Bluetooth Headset world. Why? B/c I’m one of those shoppers that likes to do research & find the best stuff for my money. A while ago I found the Jawbone and some glowing reviews… but the darn thing is > $80 (via Amazon), and I never took the plunge to get one. It’s touted as a device that cancels noise exceedingly well, and any of you who have talked to me while I’ve been on the road in my oddly (but not unexpectedly so) noisy Jeep knows that it’s not an ideal environment to carry on conversation.
Their approach to marketing is questionable though. Honestly, I find it pretty amusing b/c my sense of humor is somewhat desensitized, but is it morally right for me to support a company that creates videos that I wouldn’t necessarily feel comfortable watching in a crowd of my closest friends? I dunno, perhaps I’m overthinking this… but perhaps not.
Here is one of the vids, from www.jawbonefilms.com. There is language, among cruelty from different angles. The others are worse, particularly the bar scene one. Dangit people, this world is messed up. I still want to try a Jawbone sometime… sigh.
